dunia camp

so they said the last one will pale in comparison to these last two camps.... and these will be amazing and so luxurious.... but it kinda looks the same to me... we are here for 2 nites, and its a lot more warmer here, although there are more flies that are buzzing around and biting. first time we had to use repellant, and also 'doomed' (sorry) 2 spiders in the tent already. doom is what the local bug spray is called.....

the plains

its pretty interesting how many different environments we have gone through and the ones contained within the serengeti itself...

hippos

lions feeding

its not a good pic, but there were 2 lionesses in the brush with some cubs, they had just killed a male antelope, which you can kind of see as the red stuff, and the tall black thing on the right hand side in the middle grpund, that is an antler....

serengeti lion

we left lamala early and sped down gravel roads to make it to the serengeti about 3 hrs later. my brainis still scrambled.... we saw this guy out sunning. its warmer here, but still with a cool breeze, so its nice. we saw a leopard stalking some antelpoe, and climb a tree, some hippos, but not too much other stuff. i hope we will be ableto see a cheetah, or duma, since we are with duma tours! maybe stacy will give us a voucher to come again if we don't.....

bush tv

this is what they called bush tv... sitting around and listening to the sounds of the plains and forests.

lemala toilet

lemala camp

touted by uncle steve as being 'the best camp',we arrived up near the rimof ngorogoro to these semi permanent camps. staff was awesome, and this is something to strive for when we goouttobellows and malaekahana.... but i am still a fanof swala camp and their take a shower when you please, and not have to tell the attendants to bring 40 liters of water for you for your shower.... it was pretty cold, and they put the heaters on for a small amount of time before you go to bed and you get a hot water bottle for bed too.

lion at ngorogoro

ngorogoro crater

this is the top of the rim at ngorogoro crater, about 600 m down is the floor of the crater and its 200square km across. its big. and its very cold up at the top, and scary driving thru the fog when visibility is about 10 ft in front of you! ebaneezer was awesome... we were bumping along and not knowing where we were going... just likea space mountain ride.... we drove down into the crater where it clearedup and we saw some lions, antelopes and water buffaloes.

lion paw

the lions are walking thru the camp, and when we woke up after the nite, our guide showed us this track. they roared pretty close to annette and tinas huts. yesterday we saw a leopard with an impala up in a tree 30 feet up, and a lioness who ran after some wildabeests, but didnt catch anything. finishing up in swala camp, have to drive the 64 km to the enterance of this park, and then onto ngorogoro... so it will be a long day...

wake up call

for noah: we saw lions! they were roaming thru the camp. i left the dinner area in the dark, and as ahouse rule, you need to be escorted by a masai warrior. we walked about 15 paces, he says stop, and shines the flashlight on alioness who is walking around a hut to get to the swimming pool. we all heard lions about 3:42, according to aunty annette's clock, and couldn't go back to sleep. when we headedout at 6, our escort was walking us back tothe main hut, pointed put this track.

as we headed out in the cars for the safari drive, 10 min out, we saw a lion sitting on a termite mound looking all cool and regal. and almost at the end, we saw a lioness unsuccessfully hunt down some wildabeasts near the swamp areas. we also saw a leopard in a tree, and he had dragged his impala lunch up the tree with him.
